WHO WE ARE

We are neighbors working together to keep Rodney Reservoir safe, public and green.  We are asking the City of Wilmington to commit to making the Rodney Reservoir a permanent public greenspace and work with the community to create a design and secure the funds to make it a reality.

WHAT YOU CAN DO

Rodney_Reservoir.jpg

OUR ELECTED OFFICIALS NEED TO HEAR FROM US!

RODNEY RESERVOIR UPDATE

  • The City is moving forward with plans to demolish the Rodney Reservoir.

  • The City's planned demolition will take 4+ months -  the concrete of the water tank will be pulverized and the rubble will be buried on site.

  • The City hasn't formed the Rodney Reservoir Task Force yet even though bond bill funding requires comprehensive planning and community engagement.

  • The City has not made plans or set aside funds to turn the Rodney Reservoir into a permanent public greenspace.

  • Without YOUR advocacy, our neighborhood will face a long, loud, and dusty demolition and end up with a very large and flat vacant lot in the entire block where the Reservoir is today.

WHAT WE NEED:

Before starting demolition, we need the City of Wilmington to collaborate with the community to create a design for the future Rodney Reservoir public greenspace and secure the funding to make it a reality.

WHAT YOU CAN DO

ACTION PLAN

We are asking the City of Wilmington:

BEFORE Starting Demolition

  1. Test the soil and materials for all major contaminants

  2. Create a Task Force for neighborhood input into the design of the future Rodney Reservoir greenspace.

  3. Finalize the design- with public input- and secure the money to build it.

ORGANIZE!

To make the Rodney Reservoir the best that it can be, we need to work together. Let's get it done in small groups that take the lead on different areas: outreach to neighbors, press, technical, and your idea here. What's your passion or expertise?
