This newsletter includes park updates, info about the next Social Soil event, an invitation to Open Streets, and more!

WHO WE ARE: Green for the Greater Good is a group of neighbors working to transform the Rodney Reservoir into a beautiful nature-focused park for all to enjoy.

1. RODNEY RESERVOIR PARK UPDATE

The spring rains have been generous to the trees and plantings at the new park! This week, the site got even greener as the grass for the center lawn and the sledding hill were installed. Site workers report that we will soon see some garden beds installed and that the beautification of the walking paths will continue. We appreciate their labors! We are still expecting a late summer opening. We can’t wait!

2. SOCIAL SOIL EVENT POSTPONED!

Earlier this week, partners made the decision to postpone our Social Soil event due to uncertainties around predicted weekend storms. Please stay tuned for details about a rescheduled event in the fall and see below for our next event!

3. OPEN STREETS, 4TH STREET EDITION, SATURDAY, JUNE 28TH, 1-4 PM

We are excited to join partner organizations at another edition of Open Streets on 4th Street/Calle Cuatro, this time along the stretch from Rodney to Lincoln.  We will be bringing some of our social soil vibes (plants and resources and such!) and will be partnering up with UD’s Living Lab and BA of Landscape Architecture students, professors and researchers to bring corridor visioning and planning activities to the event. One of our goals is to make it easier for neighbors all over the West Side to get to the park by making sure our streets are safe and, where possible, shaded. We hope you will stop by!!!
